Project: S.T.E.A.M MD
Project STEAM MD is dedicated to building future leaders and entrepreneurs through exposure to STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math).
Hours: We provide before and after caresessions throughout the weekday focusing on STEAM (science, technology, engineering and math.) We will release information for weekend programming and engineering events.
Pricing: $115 per week (morning + after care). Morning Care for individuals is $30 and After Care is $85. The Drop-In rate for individual is $35 for Before and After Care. There is a nonrefundable $50 registration fee. The price includes materials. We do provide snacks.
We immerse student in The Design Process and by doing so we prepare them to be the inventors, entrepreneurs and job makers of the future. Students in Project STEAM MD learn to use traditional and digital media such as: Programming, Virtual and Augmented Reality, and 3D Modeling.
Exploration and Exposure
One of the most important aspects of Project STEAM MD is collaboration. The students collaborate with peers and teach each other to use a wide range of tools in traditional and digital media. Students in Project STEAM MD begin the week with a theme such as cityscapes. They research, paint and draw cityscapes. Next, the students will use Blender 3D (modeling software) to design cityscapes. Finally, students will use what they've learned and their to design and program interactive media. Project STEAM MD students use a single problem to inspire creativity with a wide range of tools.
The Artist Process/ Design Process consists of:
Step 1 Plan and Practice—questions, discussions, thumbnails and prelims
Step 2 Begin to Create—sketching, arranging, designing and assembling
Step 3 Revise—re-work, move and remove, improve
Step 4 Add Finishing Touches—details, presentation, accession information
Step 5 Share and Reflect—exhibit, add to portfolio, self-assess
Once the students have completed Project STEAM MD they will have designed:
- Interactive Dance and Music Projects.
- Interactive Programming for interactions with Lego sculptures using motion, distance sensors and motors.
- An original video game design with rules , time, and scores.
- Collaborative Project with a chosen theme which exhibits the learned skills of Project STEAM MD for individual portfolios and sharing on the Internet.
